J.J. Watt had the perfect joke about leaving retirement once he saw Nick Bosa’s new 49ers megadeal

After San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa signed a record-setting new contract extension, recently retired pass rusher J.J. Watt took notice.

Bosa, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year winner, signed a five-year, $170 million extension with San Francisco, making him the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL.

Watt, a generational player in his own right, got word of Bosa’s new deal and immediately contemplated if he should leave retirement for the same kind of payday.

Of course, the former Houston Texans great is kidding, but… maybe he’s not?

If you’re an NFL team and you really want to coax Watt out of retirement, it appears that you now know the price.

While Watt will join CBS Sports this fall to help its NFL coverage, maybe some pass rush-needy team will plop down another record-setting deal just to get the future Hall of Famer back in the NFL.

No team is going to do that, of course, but it seems like Watt might not let the phone call go straight to voicemail.
