J.J. McCarthy and Justin Jefferson have settled on nicknames

When the Minnesota Vikings drafted J.J. McCarthy, they created a crisis. That crisis took nearly two months to solve but now we know who is going to be called “J.J.” between McCarthy and Justin Jefferson.

The Minnesota Vikings social media team recently posted a detailed conversation the two franchise stars had over their name.

In the videos posted by the Vikings, Jefferson is seen complimenting McCarthy on a throw, calling him J.J. He then looks over to a teammate and says, “I’m Jets from now on, man. You can’t call me J.J. anymore, and I definitely don’t like Justin. . .”

McCarthy then tries to say “I am nine from now on. . .” before Jefferson cuts him off and reassures him he can have J.J. be his name while reaffirming his desire for him to be called Jets.

Take note fans and media, you don’t want to be caught referring to one player when meaning to discuss another. That connection is going to get some work real soon so practice while you can.
