I’ve worn the new Oura ring 5 since launch – it warned me I was getting a cold

The Oura ring 5 is incredibly lightweight and slimline - (David Phelan/The Independent)

Oura’s latest smart ring is here. The Oura ring 5 is much smaller and lighter than the Oura ring 4 that preceded it (and which was already thinner than Oura ring 3). After putting the new device to the test, I’ve found the latest model also boasts more accurate measurements and longer battery life, compared with its older stablemates.

With all these benefits, perhaps it’s no surprise some colour finishes cost more than the Oura ring 4. The new ring, which Oura claims is the world’s smallest smart ring, is so thin and light that it no longer even looks like a smart ring at all. If you want a smart ring that nobody notices is a piece of tech, this new device is worth considering.
