I've spent 2 months testing the Ulike ReGlow to see if LED light therapy really works for my skin — here's what I think so far

I've spent the last 60 days nursing my skin back to health with the Ulike ReGlow LED Face Mask, and I have to say, I'm shocked by the results. I was convinced that LED masks like this were a fad, but after spending evenings reading my book whilst looking like a Christmas tree's answer to Hannibal Lecter, my skin looks better than ever.

This mask combines four types of LED therapy across different settings to treat skin concerns specific to the user. As someone with very unpredictable skin that can be dry or oily depending on how my hormones are feeling that day, being able to tailor the treatment is extremely useful.

So, after two months of testing, here's what I think about the device, and what LED light therapy really means.

What is LED light therapy?

LED light therapy is a non-invasive treatment used for skin rejuvenation. It can help with a range of skin issues, including acne and psoriasis, both of which I deal with daily.

The Ulike Mask has four modes that use light combinations to tackle different skin concerns.

Clearing breakouts and reducing inflammation

According to the Cleveland Clinic, the different wavelengths of light penetrate the skin at different depths to trigger the natural repair process.

Having different modes means that this one device is capable of acting as an at-home spa to cater to a myriad of beauty concerns.

How it's working for me

Putting on the mask has become a way of telling everyone in my house that I am firmly in a state of me-time. It's just me, my book, and my mask.

I've mostly been using Clear Mode to help tackle a post-holiday breakout and calm inflammation. I noticed a marked difference after two uses of the mask, which was a relief because usually breakouts caused by pores clogged with makeup in the heat can take me over a month to clear.

Redness around the blemishes decreased immediately, and by the next morning, the pimples had shrunk in size. This felt like a huge win since my breakouts usually leave me feeling pretty self-conscious for a week while they battle it out with my skin barrier.

Getting a little tight

Each treatment session with the Ulike ReGlow mask has a set timer, so there's no need to worry about forgetting how long you've been under the light. However, by the end of the session, the mask can start to feel a little tight.

There's an adjustable strap that wraps around your head to keep the mask in place, and this has to be secure as the mask weighs about 0.9 pounds. Towards the end of each session, I start to feel the effects of the head strap around my eyes, where the mask comes into contact with my face.

After a treatment, I've experienced scuba diving goggles-style marks on my face. The general advice is that the mask should be contoured closely enough to the face to deliver the right amount of light, but shouldn't be uncomfortable.

I'll continue experimenting with the fit as I continue testing the Ulike ReGlow LED Face Mask, but I'm impressed that I've seen a visible difference in my skin already.
