Ivan Toney and Rico Henry among Brentford stars up for Fans' Footballer of the Year award

Brentford have enjoyed another 12 months to remember, with 2022 marking their first full calendar year in the Premier League.

From comfortably beating the drop last season to securing 10th in the table before the Premier League took a break from the World Cup, the Bees continue to go from strength to strength. Along the way, there were famous wins over the likes of Manchester United and Man City as plenty of Bees stars wrote themselves into the club’s record books for various reasons.

Yet four players in particular stood out and, as such, have earned themselves nominations for the club’s Fans’ Footballer of the Year Award. From a free-scoring striker to a centre-back who has become an integral part of the club’s success, these players have captured the limelight in one way or another during a year that will live long in the memory.

So, who should be crowned Brentford’s Footballer of the Year? Have your say in the widget above or by clicking here, with the results announced in late December. Keep an eye on our website for regular updates and stories around the award, and join the debate in the comments section below.

In the widget above, you’ll also have your chance to vote on the main Fans’ Footballer of the Year Award, where you’ll decide who has been the best player in England over the last 12 months.

Ivan Toney

Much will be said regarding the Brentford striker’s omission from the England World Cup squad, with the 26-year-old proving his first season in the Premier League was not a fluke. Toney continues to exceed expectations, almost matching last season’s goal tally by November and continuing to prove deadly with his strike partner Bryan Mbeumo, even against the likes of Man City.

David Raya

There continues to be no-one else Brentford fans would rather have between the goalposts when it comes to David Raya. An extensive knee injury over the festive period last season proved just how crucial the Spaniard was. Since the beginning of the 2022, the ever-present 27-year-old has kept nine clean sheets and made the most saves of anyone this season.

Rico Henry

A constant presence in the Brentford line-up and a player Thomas Frank has pinned high expectations on, the 25-year-old left-back continues to cause havoc down the flank with his pace on the ball and willingness to spark attacks, despite still being a newcomer to the top flight. He scored the most of any England left-back last season but will be hoping to contribute more in front of goal to help his team.

Pontus Jansson

Brentford fans knew what to expect when the former Leeds man joined their ranks in 2019, wasting no time in taking the captain’s armband. Despite a hamstring injury hampering his 2022/23 season, Jansson’s nomination comes after playing almost every minute of Brentford’s first season back in the top flight, where he formed part of a resilient backline, adding his own fair share of goals and assists to help the Bees to 13th place.
