Ivan Perisic injury update amid Tottenham supporters' fears before north London derby at Arsenal

Ivan Perisic appears to have allayed any injury fears the Tottenham Hotspur supporters may have had for him ahead of the north London derby at Arsenal next weekend.

The Spurs fans took to social media in the aftermath of Croatia's 2-1 victory at home against Denmark on Thursday, concerned that a 'challenge' by another Tottenham player in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg had caused an injury for Perisic. The 33-year-old had run into the back of the Danish midfielder and not too long after, in the 71st minute, Perisic walked off gingerly around the pitch with a couple of Croatia staff on either side having been substituted.

Perisic has quickly become a key member of Antonio Conte's side now he has recovered fully from a calf injury suffered in his final match for Inter last season. The Croatian wing-back played under Conte in Italy and has settled rapidly in England, with four assists in his opening nine matches for the club.

Third-placed Tottenham travel to top of the table Arsenal and the Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunch-time and the visitors will need the experience of the Champions League, Serie A and Bundesliga-winning Perisic. The wing-back appeared to allay those Spurs fans' fears about his fitness on Saturday as he shared photographs of himself training with the Croatia squad in Vienna ahead of Sunday evening's Nations League game against Austria.

In the images below, taken by the Croatian FA's official photographer Drago Sopta and shared on the players' Instagram Story, Perisic first showed himself running in full flight during the training session in Austria.

Then Perisic also shared an image of himself launching into the air for an effort at goal during the training session in Viena, although he did cover his own face with an emoji.

The Tottenham supporters will be hoping that, if he features on Sunday evening in the Nations League match, Perisic does avoid any actual injury.

The Croatian has been sharing pitch time for Spurs so far this season with 22-year-old Ryan Sessegnon, who has also been in action this week with England U21s. Sessegnon played on Thursday in England's 2-0 friendly win against Italy but does not turn out again until Tuesday night's home friendly against Germany.

Both Perisic and Sessegnon will be hoping to get the nod from Conte to start against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal team on Saturday when the Premier League returns in a north London derby which already has plenty on the line.
