A fraternity member at Indiana University is facing seven felony charges after he allegedly assaulted two women over the span of a week at Greek residences on campus in September. Monroe County authorities charged the 20-year-old student with five counts of rape, one count of strangulation, and one count of criminal confinement in connection with the alleged attacks.
According to IU police, the suspect, identified as Noah Apgar, was involved in two separate incidents at Greek houses on North Eagleson Avenue and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Apgar was arrested on September 17, 2024, for rape, strangulation, and confinement and has been trespassed from all IU property.
This case marks the third male UI student to be arrested and charged in connection with sexual assaults since late August. The first reported assault, detailed in a probable cause affidavit, involved the victim meeting Apgar at a fraternity house after connecting on Snapchat. The victim reported that Apgar became aggressive and assaulted her despite her vocal pleas to stop.
Security camera footage showed the victim willingly walking behind Apgar but later emerging disheveled with red marks on her neck. The victim sought help from sorority members, who assisted her and alerted authorities.
While details of the second assault are not provided in court records, police stated that the events were similar to the first incident. Apgar's public defender declined to comment on the case at this time.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon, the fraternity involved in the incidents, stated that they immediately suspended the member upon learning of the allegations and are cooperating with the investigation. The fraternity denounced all acts of sexual violence and reaffirmed their commitment to upholding their values.
