ITV Trigger Point viewers say same thing as Vicky McClure gives show verdict

ITV's new hit Sunday night drama Trigger Point got off to a literal bang during the show's first episode starring Nottingham's Vicky McClure.

The high-octane drama centres around explosives officers Lana Washington, played by McClure and Joel Nutkins (Adrian Lester) who are called out to investigate a potential bomb factory in a London housing estate.

The duo, who are good friends, having served in the military together in Afghanistan, are part of the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad, which is dealing with a terrorist campaign threatening London at the height of summer.

The debut episode featured a number of tense scenes, including Lana attempting to diffuse a bomb attached to a suspected suicide bomber.

But the episode's most surprising moment came during its finale when a devastating bomb exploded, seemingly with devastating consequences.

Following the first episode, Nottingham star Vicky McClure tweeted on Sunday night: "How we doing?! (Even I jumped!!) #TriggerPoint"

And fans of the show were quick to respond, with all of them saying how good they found the first episode and it left them wanting more following the cliffhanger.

One wrote: "That was superb", while another said: "That was so good."

A third said: "Jumped out of my skin!" And another viewer added: "Jumped out my skin and swore, loved it #TriggerPoint"

Meanwhile a fifth wrote: "Out my skin!!! Cracking stuff. Can’t wait till next week's".

Trigger Point returns on ITV on Sunday, January 30 at 9pm.
