ITV This Morning viewers anger at show being taken off air for breaking news

This Morning viewers have expressed their anger and disappointment over the decision to pull Tuesday's episode (October 25) from its programming roster. ITV instead opted to air a breaking news special as Rishi Sunak gave his first speech after formally becoming the UK’s new prime minister.

The show’s official Twitter page shared a photo of the vacant sofa in the studio. It Tweeted: “#ThisMorning will be off-air today due to ITV’s news coverage of the new Prime Minister, but we’ll be back tomorrow from 10am!”

However, regular viewers made their feelings known about this unexpected change to the regular schedule. @londonlad1966 replied: “ This Morning is more important, more interesting, more enjoyable, more entertaining, more fun than Downing Street and the Government and This Morning should not have been cancelled ROLL ON TO WEDNESDAY THIS MORNING SHOW.”

“I’d rather watch This Morning than ITV news,” added @_ohewitt_. “They’re just ramming this down our throats. At least you can have a laugh when This Morning is on.”

@MargaretKirkby5 was also left saddened, and suggested taking the news elsewhere. She said: “Take the news to the news channels - please, so disappointed- was looking forward to @SamHeughan interview, not everyone wants to watch the 10 Downing Street show.”

@Dmca74D concurred: “Aww ... The scheduled program should have went ahead as everyone has political fatigue and would have tuned in on any other channel to watch if they were interested.”

“How many channels do @ITV have why is it always ITV1 whose programs are pulled ridiculous,” added @Joshpeterchrist.

The topical chat show was due to start at 10am but viewers were instead met with shots of 10 Downing Street. This was to put the focus on a briefing from newly-appointed Conservative leader and prime minister Rishi Sunak.

This Morning will return to ITV as normal on Wednesday (October 26).
