Normality resumed on Monday (September 5) as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield returned to This Morning. However, it wasn't quite a normal start to show with viewers left both baffled and 'cringing'.
It's been several weeks since the hosting duo were at the helm of the popular programme. As they enjoyed their annual summer break, Holly and Phillip have been replaced by the likes of Rochelle Humes, Vernon Kay, Craig Doyle, and Ruth Langsford who made a return to the show for the first time since last year.
But with summer now over, Holly and Phillip were back to work and This Morning didn't waste an opportunity for an extravagant opening.

The West End cast of Mary Poppins provided an energetic start to a new week on the ITV daytime show with an outdoor performance of the show's classic number, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Holly and Phil were nowhere to be seen for the first few moments of the show.
However, the pair finally graced the screens after the Mary Poppins performance came to an end outside the ITV studios in London. Phillip emerged from a piece of the set, acting as a chimney sweep with a brush before bursting into a Cockney accent.
Holly then made her own grand entrance. The mum-of-three emerged from the sky under an umbrella as she embodied Julie Andrews' famous character. While donning an all-red ensemble, Holly beamed underneath a black umbrella as she 'floated' from above before getting her feet firmly back on the ground.
"I've always wanted to do that. Oh my days that was so fun," Holly laughed as she made it back on the ground to be with her co-star. She then joked how she could do with that mode of transport everyday to beat the London rush hour.
Holly then embraced Phillip as they gushed over being back together on-screen, despite spending some time together over the summer holidays. But as a pre-recorded VT rolled with the hosts teasing what is to come this autumn on the show, viewers were flocking to social media.
@Ophelia_ButtsUK tweeted: "Oh my goodness, utter cringe #ThisMorning." @demelcy echoed: "Hell. No. This is ultra cringe #ThisMorning." @leeleeCThomas commented: "It’s too early for me to process this lol #thismorning."
But @ForeverOUFC said: "Ok, that was so weirdly wonderful and much needed to start the week haha already relieved Holly and Phil are back on our screens #thismorning #marypoppins."
