ITV This Morning's Vanessa Feltz in emotional plea as she shares health update on 'deadly ill' daughter

Vanessa Feltz issued a plea to This Morning viewers as she appeared emotional talking about her daughter's current ill health which came as a shock to them both. The broadcaster joined Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on the ITV daytime show alongside Tom Strawbrick.

The pair took their place on the famous sofa opposite the hosting duo to discuss the news headlines in the latest 'This Morning's View' segment. But while on the show, Vanessa shared a health update on her daughter after telling fans that she had been rushed to hospital last week when she became 'desperately ill' with the flu.

Vanessa has two daughters, Allegra, 36, and Saskia, 33, and appeared to confirm it was Allegra who had been struck down while on This Morning as she said: "She’s 36. She’s slim, she’s fit, she’s got two young children."

She explained how she became ill last week and they put it down to norovirus: "She started feeling incredibly ill – vomiting, vomiting, vomiting. We thought it was norovirus and the kind of thing you just deal with at home," Vanessa explained. " She got sicker and sicker. In the end she was admitted as an emergency and is still in hospital. She’s still on a drip."

Vanessa, 60, said they think her daughter was 'finally turning a corner' but admitted her shock when the consultant told them it was flu. She shared how she told them that both she and her daughter had paid to get the flu jab because they were 'scared' of getting it this winter.

She recalled: "I said, 'She's been vaccinated', and he said, 'Imagine if she hadn't'. In other words, the vaccine may not protect you from getting the flu, but it will save your life." Vanessa added: "Please, if you’re eligible for it go and get it and if you’re not, consider paying for it."

When asked by Phillip about how it now differs to Covid, Vanessa continued: "[The doctor] said that the flu, when you get it very badly, is worse than Covid. He said you feel like you’re going to die and in some cases you do.

"She has been deadly ill. Yesterday when I went to visit her in hospital, she could not open her eyes and she could not talk, she was so ill."

It comes after Vanessa took to Instagram on Sunday to share a video explaining what was going on with her daughter and, again, implored her followers to take precautions. "Hello there, so I’m talking to you from the hospital where my daughter is really very unwell," she said. "She’s on a drip. She’s been on a drip pretty much since Thursday night, really.

"And it turns out that what she’s got is pure and simply flu. It’s influenza. It’s the flu bug that all the doctors warned us was probably coming this winter and she’s got a particularly virulent, horrible, horrible case of it. And guess what? She has been vaccinated. And what they’ve all said - all the specialists - is that if she hadn’t been, she would be even worse. And believe me, even worse honestly doesn’t even bear thinking about.

"So she asked me to do this, to say to you: ‘Please, please, please get your flu vaccine.' Because she wouldn't want anyone else to go what she’s going through and neither would I. Lots of love."
