This Morning's Sharon Marshall was forced to apologise after she appeared to announce a Coronation Street star's exit.
The "Soap Queen" regularly appears on ITV's flagship daytime programme to share the latest news from the Cobbles. Corrie writers have tackled a number of dark storylines in recent weeks as it has addressed important issues such as stalking and non-consensual sex.
Sharon defended the show from fans who said they have brought too many dark plots to the show at once as she lifted the lid on some comedy storylines on the way. She told broadcasters, Holly Willoughby and Joel Dommett: "People are saying 'we want the humour' and the humour is still absolutely there.

"Coming up you've got Mary thinking she's off on an Italian getaway with Brian. Mary with stars in their eyes is something we all love to see. Will her hopes be dashed?"
Sharon also shared details of an upcoming story for Jodie Prenger who joined the soap last year as Glenda Shuttleworth.
"Ruth Henshall is joining in a guest appearance, safely, this will though mean an exit for Glenda Shuttleworth. Can I officially say on this sofa can we please have her back?" However, Sharon was forced to take to Twitter to clarify Jodie's show future after she had confused the star's exit with Amy Robbins, who played Daisy's mum, Christina.
She said: "I am the biggest idiot. The iconic Jodie Prenger is NOT leaving Corrie. Glenda is staying. I am so so sorry, I got my wires crossed. She is staying. She is fabulous! @thismorning."
She added: "It was Amy Robbins who went who I also enjoyed very much. I got my wires crossed in the heat of live telly, so sorry Jodie (but thank God I said she was fabulous and should stay)"
Coronation Street star, Tony Maudsley, took to the comments and joked: "Thank God for that. I was going in tomorrow to start a whip round for her leaving do!"
