Ryan Thomas found himself being called out by Phillip Schofield as he made an appearance on This Morning. The former Coronation Street star appeared live on the ITV daytime programme live from Crystal Palace.
The actor, known for playing Jason Grimshaw in the ITV soap, was chatting alongside current Corrie star Colson Smith and model and TV personality Christine McGuinness about their involvement in new show, The Games. The trio appeared from the stadium ahead of the first live show on Monday night (May 9).
The programme, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff, sees 12 celebrities taken out of their comfort zone in a range of gruelling sporting events including diving, cycling, running, and weight lifting. The six female and six male stars have already been training for weeks before having to compete live to the nation in the various Olympic-style events.
Each time they compete they'll - hopefully - be racking up points on the medals table and at the end of the games, contestants that receive the most points will be awarded either a gold, silver or bronze medal. There will be one male champion and one female crowned the winners of The Games.
As Phillip and co-host Rochelle Humes, who is stepping in for Holly while she focuses on The Games, chatted to the trio, Phillip noticed that Ryan appeared distracted as he checked his smart watch. "I just saw you have a look at your watch there," the 60-year-old presenter noted. "I'm assuming it's just not a watch so are you looking at messages from home?"
He then added: "How close is Lucy actually to giving birth, mate?" to which Ryan replied: "Like this week close, Phil." He is referring to the fact that his fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh is currently ready to pop with their second child. The couple, who are already parents to son Roman, are set to welcome a baby girl.
Former The Only Way is Essex star Lucy announced she was expecting again in November when she shared a photo on Instagram. The adorable post showed her cradling her baby bump while her son looked at his own bare stomach.
Ryan went on to reveal on This Morning that he would automatically have to leave The Games if Lucy was to go into labour or give birth this week. He added: "She sent me a picture this morning and I can't tell you how low this baby looks.
"If this little girl comes this week, I am out of the show. Fingers crossed I get to the end of it and I can finish it and complete it and then move on to the next chapter of our lives."
Ryan had earlier been 'caught out' by Rochelle who shared how she replied to one of his Instagram Story posts after talking about how he took on 10 marathons in 10 days last year. "How does this challenge compare because I actually replied to your story the other day and you'd stolen Lucy's bath salts and wacked them in the bath and said, 'This is really tough!'"
Laughing on the screen via video link, Ryan said: "You've caught me out Rochelle, you've caught me out. I need your bath salts!" He continued to laugh as he said: "I can't believe it."
He then said that "nothing" can prepare them for the challenges they are facing but that they've had the "best coaches" to help them. "But the progress from start to finish is incredible. Everybody's made such an impact mentally and physically challenging themselves and I'm super proud of all the celebs."
