ITV This Morning's Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield announce first celebrity for Dancing On Ice 2023

Strictly Come Dancing is only just getting started and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here is still weeks away but it appears that it's never too early to start discussing Dancing On Ice as the show's hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield made an announcement.

The hosting duo were back at their usual job on This Morning on Monday (October 3) and they were quick to share that they could reveal the first celebrity to be taking part in the ITV skating competition, which they host in January, on today's show.

After a bit of teasing and clue dropping throughout the daytime programme, Holly, 41, and Phillip, 60, were finally able to make the announcement and revealed that actress and DJ Patsy Palmer is the first celebrity confirmed to be taking part in the new series of Dancing on Ice.

Talking exclusively to This Morning, Patsy said of her reason for signing up for the show: "Out of all the things that came through at that time, this was the one that I had to really think about. I wanted to challenge myself, get back to work, get out of my comfort zone.

"And I just thought 'Oh I'll just go for it', it seems like a lot of fun and I do love ice skating but I'm not an ice skater!"

Phillip then revealed that Patsy had been asked to do the show in the past but had previously turned it down. The former EastEnders star explained: "Yes, I know! Because I've been absolutely terrified before, but the pact I made with myself before I was 50 years old this year was 'I have to do things that challenge myself for the next couple of years'.

"It's such a weird age, so yeah, this is for all of the 50-year-olds who think they can't challenge themselves!" The 15th series of Dancing On Ice will return in its usual January slot with Holly and Phillip back as hosts.

Oti Mabuse, Ashely Banjo and Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill are expected to be back on the panel to give their expert feedback and scores. The 2022 series saw Regan Gascoigne crowned winner alongside his professional skating partner, Karina Manta.

Strictly Come Dancing professional Brendan Cole and Vanessa Bauer, and Pussycat Doll singer Kimberly Wyatt and Mark Hanretty also made it to the final, finishing in second and third place behind dancer Regan, the son of former footballer Paul Gascoigne.
