This Morning descended into chaos today as Gino D'Acampo took over presenting from Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
As the show began this morning, Phil and Holly were missing from the sofa and TV chef Gino D'Acampo was sat in their place. He started the show as normal, welcoming all the viewers with a piece to camera. Shortly after, Holly and Phil appeared to be standing by the kitchen area where Gino would usually be and they explained what 'they' would be cooking on the show today.
Gino then led the opening segment, laughing and joking as he tried to get through the 'what's on' piece to camera, as he confirmed the likes of Strictly Come Dancing star Ellie Simmonds and her partner Nikita Kuzmin, actor Richard E Grant and Stacey Solomon Swash would all be in the show.
Gino also confirmed he would be hosting the phone-in today. As things returned to normal, Holly and Phil took their show back, telling Gino to head back to the kitchen.
However, when Stacey Solomon joined the pair to talk about her new book Tap to Tidy at Pickle Cottage, Gino was in the sidelines telling her to hurry up so they could do the demonstration. The pair stood and made some pumpkin flower displays and Gino was still causing chaos.
Many fans noticed the carnage and took to Twitter to talk about it. One wrote: "Gino and Stacey are going to end up in a heated argument here."
Another added: "Was just thinking watching Stacey and Gino is like a scene of the Carry On films. While one wrote: "Gino, you’re a legend loving you embarrassing Phil and Holly!" And another said: "Howling at Gino’s advice on this morning, cheered me right up."
It comes after ITV boss Dame Carolyn McCall confirmed Holly and Phil's jobs were safe on the show despite the drama surrounding 'Queuegate'. The pair were falsely accused of jumping the queue at the Queen's lying-in-state.
The chief executive explained: "They did have accreditation. Lots of people saying they didn’t. They were sent by This Morning to do a piece for September 20, which ran. They were to interview people inside and outside.
"They didn’t displace anyone in the queue. And they’ve been very misrepresented, actually. And that’s why we made a statement. Unusually, we made a statement to say all of those things. But it does show you how things spread and how misinformation just spreads. And it is really horrible for them. It’s hard. You imagine yourself in the eye of the storm like this, where you’re trying to say you’ve done nothing wrong and all the noise around you is saying that you have."
The pair attended the lying-in-state as part of a group of accredited journalists and broadcasters, with Holly saying in a pre-recorded statement: "We, of course, respected those rules. However, we realised it may have looked like something else and therefore totally understand the reaction. Please know we would never jump the queue."
