ITV This Morning hosts Holly and Phil in tears as Miriam Margolyes forced to apologise

Miriam Margolyes left ITV This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield in tears of laughter today after they were forced to step in when she swore live on TV.

The actress was appearing on the daily show to discuss new book This Much is True and had been apologising for upsetting people in the past for using foul language when she made the hilarious gaffe. Harry Potter star Miriam was recalling struggling with fellow students while she was studying at the University of Cambridge.

The 81-year-old was talking about issues of misogyny when she admitted to the presenters that she was finding it hard to use polite language while she remembered her experiences.

She joked: "Oh, I have to watch myself." Holly then told the icon she was "doing really well" not to curse but Phillip added: "It's such a shame as we love it when you just let rip."

Miriam replied: "I know, but it upsets some people and I don't want to upset people."

Miriam then forgot herself for a minute and added: "Life is s**t at the moment, it really is, it's terrible, it really is."

The camera then panned to an amused Holly and Phil, who said sorry to viewers for the colourful language, before Miriam realised her slip up.

She said: "Oh, "I've let myself down. I apologise to everybody for that word." In stitches along with Holly, Phil replied: "Yeah amazingly while you were apologising!"

"I just want to make people happy," Miriam admitted as Phillip told her: "You do though," as Holly said: "You make us very happy, let me tell you."

Miriam also recalled how Leonardo diCaprio was "smelly" during the 1990s, when she filmed Romeo and Juliet with him, but added he is more "fragrant" now.
