The Chase was back on our screens on Saturday night with a fresh-faced set of celebrities ready to take on the Chaser to bag some cash for their chosen charities if they made it through to the final chase and earned their winnings.
Bradley Walsh was back presenting the popular ITV gameshow where he introduced tonight's contestants - sports presenter and journalist Mark Chapman, news presenter Gillian Joseph, cricketer Ryan Sidebottom and Scots comedian Fred MacAulay.
The team were off to a flying start as both Mark, 49, and fellow journalist Gillian, 53, secured £7,000 in the cash-building round and stuck to their guns with their middle offer, taking a healthy £14,000 between them.
Next up was 45-year-old sportsman Ryan who went head-to-head with the Dark Destroyer Shaun Wallace, and despite getting slightly lower than his teammates in the cash-builder at £5,000 he shocked everyone when he opted for the higher offer.
"Someone has to go for the higher offer and that person is you," joked Scottish comedian Fred as Ryan stunned everyone when he went for the higher offer of £100,000.
Bradley was left pacing excitedly up and down the studio tensely as it got to the final question and Ryan had bagged the big winnings, with the sportsman lifting Brad up in the air out of excitement.
Scottish comedian Fred MacAulay was up last, and despite everyone having high hopes for him after scoring a respectable £8,000 in the cash-building round, the Perth-born comic listened to the advice of his allies on the panel and went for the minus offer.
Although opting for the dreaded minus, it was still £2,000 towards the prize pot which took their total winnings heading into the final chase to an outstanding £116,000.
Shaun Wallace said: "That was superb, well done," as he congratulated the team on making it through.
It was a nail-biting final few seconds however as the Dark Destroyer was hot on their tails, but with just seconds to go Shaun got a question wrong allowing them a comfortable pass into taking the winnings home for their chosen charities.
With only two seconds remaining, all four contestants took home £29,000 each. It is believed Fred has decided to use his share of the winnings for research into diabetes.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on STV.
