ITV The Chase's Mark Labbett shed 10st by cutting down on foods he 'loves'

Mark Labbett has recently wowed fans as he showed off the results of his weight loss journey.

The Beast adopted a new diet plan and followed a healthier lifestyle after he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2016. Mark was 29st stone at his heaviest in 2003 and he revealed he had lost 10st during an appearance on Loose Women in March 2021.

The 56-year-old said on the show: “I am gradually dropping Xs off my size. I’ve gone from 5XL to 4XL and it looks like the next time I go shopping I’ll be able to squeeze into XL underpants. I’ve lost 10 stone, I was 29 stone when I was a full-time teacher in 2003 and I was in danger of high blood pressure.

“I’ve been around 26 stone up until lockdown, and then a few things happened quite nicely and came together and I started losing weight.” Mark has continued to adopt his healthier lifestyle and an Instagram post in January revealed he had dropped to a 2XL.

He said: "Down to 52 inch chest from 60”. So was 5xl, now 2xl. Still a lot of work to do #xlorbust"

Mark provided some of his weight loss secrets during his Loose Women appearance revealed he has cut down on his carb intake. He said: "I’m on a high protein diet... so eating an awful lot of meat and lean meat, and as much as I love chips and other carbs, I’m having quite a bit less than I used to.

“And it’s sort of became a virtuous cycle, I’m not feeling that hungry, so you eat less, so you lose weight, so you’re not as hungry.”

Mark also credits regular exercise with helping him achieve his weight loss goals and teamed up with Fitbit and Diabetes UK for the One Million Step Challenge last year. The challenge encouraged participants throughout the country to step up their activity and take at least 10,000 steps a day to reach a one million step target at the end of the three-month challenge period.

He added: "I had been getting fit anyway because of being in lockdown, because my wife works as a nurse and I was the primary carer for our son. And I soon found that looking after an active three-year-old is tough. The weight just fell off me just chasing after him."
