ITV The Chase's Bradley Walsh forced to 'join team' as fans left in disbelief

The Chase fans were in disbelief as Bradley Walsh joined the team on today's episode.

The 61-year-old presenter welcomed four new players on Tuesday's edition of the popular ITV gameshow.

Michael, Lauren, Blake and Natalie were testing their wits against Jenny Ryan in a bid to win a cash prize.

Michael was up in seat one and the 45-year-old hailed from Liverpool before moving to London.

The business analyst accumulated £6,000 in an impressive cash-builder, but was knocked out by The Vixen in a nail-biting head-to-head.

The Chaser was in imperious form as she proceeded to swiftly catch Lauren and Blake in seat 2 and 3.

Natalie was the final contestant and built up £7,000 in her cash-builder.

The Vixen offered her a whopping £80,000 to take a step closer to home and the host took up an unfamiliar role behind the contestant's podium to offer advice to Natalie.

He said: "Come on, I'll be your team.

"So, £80,000, right? If you go out, the four of you come back anyway and one of you will play for £1,000 each."

The quizzer was apprehensive over taking the top offer since it was "greedy", which prompted Bradley to joke she could give him £73,000 of the prize pot if she emerged victorious.

Natalie opted to take the £7,000 she'd earned in the cash-builder, but was also caught by Jenny so no players progressed to the last round.

Viewers following the show on Twitter took to the social media platform in disbelief after all the quizzers were knocked out.

Rach said: "What is going on!! I've never seen this happen!"

@meplussix added: "Wow 1st time ive seen all contestants lose."

Frankie commented: "Ah what a rare moment it is to see the contestants all wiped out."

Katie tweeted: "Wow first time i've ever seen no one get back on the chase

@TheAifaZi posted : "Well this is a first I’ve seen… the whole team got knocked out. Didn’t know they had this extra round!"

Natalie was nominated to return to represent the team for the final round - and was competing for £1,000 for each member.

The policy officer from Barnet built up 8 steps in the last round and was caught with 1 minute and 12 seconds remaining - so they left empty-handed.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITV Hub
