ITV The Chase's Anne Hegerty hits back as Bradley demands she 'pull herself together'

Anne Hegerty hit back after Bradley Walsh demanded she "pull herself together".

The 61-year-old presenter welcomed four new quizzers on today's edition of the ITV game show. Kevin, Chris, Philippa and Steph were taking on The Governess in a bid to win a cash prize.

The team put in a strong showing on the final episode of the week as Kevin and Chris both booked their place in the last round. Philippa built up £3,000 and engaged in a tense head-to-head with Anne.

The quizzer was in a one question shoot-out with The Chaser to book her spot in the last round and Bradley was relieved to hear her response.

He asked: "Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh are vocalists with what band?"

The options were "Deacon Blue, Deep Purple and King Crimson" and Bradley detailed why it must be the Real Gone Kid hit-makers since Ross and McIntosh are both Scottish names.

However, the host was distracted as he discussed his working as Anne struggled to contain her laughter.

He joked: "Why is Anne laughing? Pull yourself together. What are you doing?

"Stop making your own jokes up there. It's unnecessary. I'm trying to run a show here and all you're doing is laughing your head off."

Bradley's theory proved to be correct - and Anne explained why she was in stitches.

She said: "I wasn't laughing at you. Well, yes I was doing that but you do that to yourself in fairness."

It was a strong team showing as all four members progressed to the final to compete for a grand total of £19,000. However, The Chaser was in imperious form and caught the team with just one second remaining.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITV Hub
