ITV The Chase player 'hustles' Shaun Wallace in 'magic' round

A contestant on The Chase was accused of "hustling" the Dark Destroyer for £32,000 on Friday's episode.

Bradley Walsh welcomed four new players in this week's final edition of the much-loved ITV quiz show. Rosie from Chelmsford, Steve originally from Wakefield, Kallan from Cardiff and Seb from Wareham were hoping four brains could beat one as they formed a quizzing team.

Rosie was up first against Shaun Wallace, and had a decent cash-builder round. But despite earning a potential £6,000 and taking the middle offer, she was caught by the Chaser and sent home empty-handed.

Steve was up next and answered just two questions correctly, earning just a possible £2,000. Despite his poor performance, he was clearly feeling brave.

Steve accepted the Dark Destroyer's high offer of £32,000. After a "one question shootout" saw the players go head to head, a Madonna question answered incorrectly by the Chaser saw Steve return to the table with the cash.

Viewers at home were taken aback by Steve's turnaround. Taking to Twitter, Dave - who had earlier tweeted "Bye Steve" - said: "Welcome back Steve".

Caryn initially said: "I really hope he's hustled them and smashes this £32k now", and later replied to her own tweet simply with "hehehehe" [sic]. Connieandjake said: "Well done, that was magic", while stevebethere said: "I knew he was a better player than that, absolutely brilliant".

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
