ITV The Chase fans notice show change amid new series

Viewers of The Chase pointed out a significant change on tonight's episode.

Host Bradley Walsh welcomed David, Tony, Natalie and Marion to the ITV show as they worked together to take on the Chaser. Each of them went head-to-head with Anne Hegerty.

Every player has to take on a cash builder round before taking on the challenge of the Chaser. Then, depending on how well they perform, they are offered three cash amounts and they have to choose between a low, middle or high offer.

Once they have made their decision it is time to play to add funds to the prize pot. But this is the part of the ITV quiz show were contestants can be knocked out and sent home with nothing.

If the players are clever enough to outrun the Chaser, they go back to the bench ready to play in the final. But not before they have received their own personal prize from Bradley - a high five.

Fans were delighted that proper high fives were back (ITV)

However, during the coronavirus pandemic, the friendly host wasn't allowed to touch the contestants. This resulted in 'air high-fives' where they made the gesture but didn't actually touch, which continued for a number of series.

Now, fans have noticed things have "returned to normal" and the 'air' high-fives are a thing of the past. Tonight's show saw David make it through to the final, adding a whopping £32,000 to the prize pot and earning himself a hefty high five from Bradly.

Fans on Twitter were delighted as they noticed the change. One user said: "A new #TheChase with a genuine high-five instead of an air-swipe…"

Kevin said: "Finally a high five, instead of waving into thin air! #TheChase." A third said: "Actual high five klaxon! #TheChase."
