ITV The Chase fans hit back over remarks about Scouse contestant

Fans of The Chase hit out on social media after reading a number of comments about a contestant from Liverpool.

Thursday's instalment of the popular ITV quiz show saw four more players ready to face one of Britain's biggest brains in the hope of taking home some cash. They were Sam from Eastling, Michael from London, Ashley from Liverpool, and Hilary from Surrey.

Before giving an impressive performance in the cash builder round, Ashley revealed she works in construction, looking at how the industry could implement modular housing to make it in a more efficient and cheaper way to build homes.

But a number of Twitter users seemed to be more interested in her looks. Thankfully, many fans were unhappy by the nature of these tweets - which the ECHO has chosen not to publish - and rushed to stick up for Ashley.

Ben said: "Some of the comments about Ashley... Talk about some people being so judgemental and downright jealous", while Katherine said: "The sexism is strong with this one. Lads, Ashley's not gonna s*** you".

Chris said: "Some tough questions there, Ashley played a blinder". Heather said: "Omg Ashley! I'm biting my nails at the answers, a great round".

She made it through to the final chase with Hilary and Sam. Ashley had said she would treat her mum and take her boyfriend to Vegas for his 30th if she won.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
