ITV Saturday Night Takeaway fans spot real star of the show as he's left 'overwhelmed' by reaction

Saturday Night Takeaway fans think they spotted the real star of the show during the series' return over the weekend after a week break.

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly were back on their usual energetic form to bring ITV viewers the Happiest Minute of the Week, a game of Read My Lips and not one but two performances from Michael Buble.

The latest episode also marked the return of Stephen Mulhern to the show after he was forced to take a bit of time off under doctor's orders. The Catchphrase and In For A Penny host, 44, revealed earlier this month that he had been ruled out of the entertainment show after fans questioned his whereabouts.

Addressing the few weeks away, Stephen, who was dressed as Darth Vader for the return of Ant vs Dec, said on Saturday night's show (March 26) that he 'hadn't been too well' before thanking fans for their lovely messages which continued as his presenter pals gave him a warm welcome and viewers flocked to say he had been missed.

However, there was another part of the show that also got fans talking as three unsuspecting audience members found out they had been subject of a very different Undercover.

The popular segment often sees the hosting duo pull an elaborate prank on a celebrity but this time it came with a twist as three grandmothers wanted to get their own back on one of their grandchildren.

They didn't know they had been pranked by their nan's alongside Ant and Dec (ITV)

It saw the nan's sat in a room with Ant and Dec who were feeding instructions to an actor pretending to be a waiter in a fancy London restaurant while sat around a whole bunch of actors pretending to be guests.

The waiter, Troy, was tasked with getting on his customers' nerves, from leaving one standing without a chair at his table to slowly filling up their glasses with water before overfilling one and claiming customers usually 'tell him when' to stop.

The end of the skit saw Troy tell his customers that he knows the service wasn't up to standard and that he would get them a free dessert, even though they're not allowed to give out freebies. Moments later he returned with a huge birthday cake with sparklers, party hats, and confetti, pretending it was a special occasion.

However, the customers were then forced to show their ID by the restaurant manager and when ti was revealed it wasn't actually their birthday, Troy was marched to the office and let go from his job, passing the cake-eating members of the public on the way out.

And fans were loving Troy's top-notch acting with one, @zamp69wall, tweeting: "Troy is a great actor! #SaturdayNightTakeAway."

"#SaturdayNightTakeaway #Troy Star of the show, should've been on to get some recognition for his amazing acting. How did he keep a straight face! Amazing!" @Demi752725451 said.

@A_brum_1 commented: "Troy is the star of tonight’s show.. #SaturdayNightTakeaway brilliant."

"Troy for regular on SNT! His acting skills.. BRILLIANT! That's the funniest thing I've seen this series.. More of this please #SaturdayNightTakeaway," @Justme2461 shared.

@emnotton echoed: "Petition for Troy to become a regular on #SaturdayNightTakeaway."

And Troy himself also took to social media to share a selfie from the day of his filming with Ant and Dec while admitting to being 'overwhelmed' by the positive reaction.

"Wow what an experience it was going undercover for @antanddec!" he tweeted. "I wanna do it all again! #SaturdayNightTakeaway."

With the post soon attracting more praise, he added a follow up tweet, writing: "Wow thanks for the love everyone! Overwhelmed!! If any Acting agents want to represent me I’m currently looking for a new one! #saturdaynighttakeaway."
