ITV viewers got their first look at The Hunt for Raoul Moat on Sunday night, as the trailer for what looks set to be the channel's most talked about drama this year, had its premiere.
Nearly 13 years have passed since ex Newcastle doorman Moat shot ex Samantha Stobbart and killed her new boyfriend Christopher Brown in Birtley, before shooting and blinding on duty police officer PC David Rathband as he sat in a patrol car on the outskirts of the city. From there, Moat went on the run to Northumberland, evading police for almost a full week, until events concluded with a tense stand-off in Rothbury, with Moat shooting himself and dying from his injuries.
It was announced last year that ITV were producing a drama based on Moat's crimes in 2010, with photos emerging from the set, featuring Bodyguard star Matt Stokoe as the killer and Inspector George Gently actor Lee Ingelby as Northumbria Police Chief Superintendent Neil Adamson, who led the manhunt for Moat.

Three part series The Hunt for Raoul Moat is still billed as 'coming soon,' with a start date to be confirmed but, on Sunday night, ITV viewers got their first look at the drama, when the trailer for it aired right before the final episode of Grace.
The preview starts with the actors playing Samantha and Christopher on a date in Newcastle, with the Baltic and Millennium Bridge in shot, before Samantha says 'But it's my ex, Raoul Moat...he'll not have it."
The trailer then moves onto one of Moat's friends, played by former Emmerdale star Dale Meeks telling Neil Adamson: "He's coming for you, the coppers," before, as Neil, Lee Ingelby, delivers a press conference, telling assembled journalists: "This man declared war on Northumbria Police.
Lee is then seen at the hospital bed of David Rathband, telling the actor playing the late officer: "I won't rest til we get him."
