ITV's Emmerdale comes under fire as the Dingles come up with a plan to save Liv from prison

Emmerdale fans hit out at the soap tonight as the notorious Dingle family tried to come up with a plan to save Liv Flaherty from prison.

The youngster was falsely imprisoned over the murder of her half-brother's boyfriend, Ben Tucker.

When she was first imprisoned the Dingle family all but disowned Liv, not knowing that it was actually Meena Jutla who killed Aaron Dingle's partner.

But on tonight's episode it seemed the family had a change of heart as they planned to try and break Liv out of jail.

Liv is currently in hospital after being attacked in her prison cell and Mandy suggested she could pretend to be a councillor to see her before helping her escape.

Viewers were in disbelief at what they were watching, as they took to Twitter to point out the hypocrisy in the storyline.

Owen said: "Makes me laugh how Mandy etc care about Liv now after they pretty much disowned her a few weeks ago #Emmerdale #YesIKnowItsNotReal."

Natasha said: "The Dingle are a joke, now she is family after you only disowned her a few weeks ago. #Emmerdale"

Cirah said: "Liv wasn't 'family' last week when you all thought she had killed Ben. Honestly the hypocrisy with the Dingles right now is unbelievable #Emmerdale"

Paul said: "So Paul, Vinny and Mandy started Liv off down the bad path, then hounded her over it. But now they are like family first? The writers have a short memory. #emmerdale"

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV and ITV Hub with an additional episode at 8pm on Thursdays
