Davina McCall will be the host of The Romance Retreat, the highly anticipated 'older' version of Love Island, which will launch on ITV this year. And the ex Big Brother presenter's new role comes as producers launch a search for single parents and their grown up children to star in the show.
ITV bosses announced plans for The Romance Retreat in January, with an online teaser on the ITV website reading: "ITV1 are looking for vibrant single parents from across the UK who are in search of love, for a brand new dating show! This is the ONLY dating show where single parents can search for love, by spending time in a luxury retreat, where all the parents have been nominated by their grown up children."
The original host of Big Brother and other shows like Popstars: The Rivals, Davina, now as judge on The Masked Singer, had expressed a keen intertest in fronting a Love Island for 'older people', having since been ruled out of returning to Big Brother for its reboot.
And, on Thursday afternoon, her appointment as Romance Retreat presenter was made official by ITV, as Davina broke the news on Instagram.
Next to a video of her making the announcement, Davina wrote: "Omg.. I manifested and it came true !! I’ll be hosting a brand NEW grown up dating series for ITV1! This is a show for single parents who have lived a life , have stories to tell about their dating pasts and deserve another chance at love and I’m gonna help you. It will all take place in the most romantic countryside location!"
Single parents and their grown-up children from across the UK can apply to be on The Romance Retreat via ITV’s Be On TV page.
Another preview for what to expect from the show read: "The fresh new dating format follows nominated single parents, from all over the UK, and from all walks of life, as they live together at a stunning country house with one objective: to find true love."
The teaser added: "Get the tissues at the ready as we witness the highs and the lows, the tears and the funny moments, of finding love again."
