ITV's Dancing on Ice's Connor Ball gives injury update after accident

Fans of ITV's Dancing on Ice were shocked to see The Vamps star, Connor Ball clutching his chin to stem blood from a wound following his routine on Sunday night, February 6.

Connor suffered a painful fall just before the show went live which put back his performance.

The musician and his partner Alexandra Shauman were due to open the show with a Charleston-inspired routine to Out Of Our Heads by Take That for the competition's 'dance week'.

However, this wasn't revealed until later, after they performed, when Connor was seen having to compress an injury on his chin.

Ball revealed he had taken a fall before the live broadcast, cutting open his chin.

He was left clutching a tissue to the injury as blood leaked onto his collar after the cut reopened during his routine.

Explaining what had happened, guest host Stephen Mulhern said: "I don’t know if you can see this but Dancing On Ice is completely live and Connor was meant to open the entire show, but had an accident before the show.

Connor added: "I was a bit stressed about the spin so I kept trying to perfect the spin and I slipped out and smacked my face on the ice."

Nottingham's own legendary skater Christopher Dean, a judge on the show, tried to show a scar on his own chin and told Connor: "Welcome to the club. We all get it eventually. That means you’re becoming a professional skater."

Despite having what some are calling a "horror jury", the 25-year-old still earned an impressive 33 points out of 40 for his latest performance on the ITV skating competition and made it safely through to next weekend's show.

Connor gave an update on Twitter, uploading a video of himself showing the injury.

He said: "Yo, what's up everyone?

"As you can see, bit of an eventful evening today. Just before we were meant to go on the show tonight, we were meant to open the show, I had a bit of a fall and hit my face off the ice.

"Luckily it's been stitched up now. I had five stitches."

Fans reacted to the post. One said: "You're an absolute warrior for carrying on Connor, I hope your chin is feeling better soon and we’re all so proud of you, you were absolutely incredible."

Another wrote: "You did amazing !! Lets be honest everyone knew you’d get hurt at some point, but you powered through it hahah"

A third said: "That sounds incredibly terrifying and I hope ur doing alright. get well soon! the performance was absolutely incredible as well, u did amazing and I’m so proud of u"

The Vamps star also shared a post on his Instagram page, featuring a snap taken before his accident.

"Well, that was an interesting night… smashed my face off the ice then scored our highest score so far of the show!

"But honestly thank you so much to everyone that jumped in to help so quickly, everyone on the show is bloody awesome and I’m lucky to be surrounded by great people."

Connor added: "Ps. the last photo is the shirt i SHOULD’VE worn before it got covered in blood."

Dancing On Ice judge Oti Mabuse told him: "Get well dude."

And skating partner Alex insisted: "Connor Fall is NOT back," before continuing: "Honestly so proud of you partner, you smashed it, literally and you are a rockstar for getting back out there!

"Takes so much courage! Huge thank you to everyone on the team-wouldn’t have been able to do it without you."

Fans were also quick to show their support and tell him what a 'trooper' he was.
