ITV's Ant and Dec hit with Saturday Night Takeaway 'ban' by defiant guest

Ant and Dec were effectively 'banned' from their own show this weekend as Saturday Night Takeaway guest Mimi Webb 'snubbed' them backstage as cameras rolled.

At the very start of the second part of this week's edition of Takeaway, following its return last week, the Geordie presenters headed to Mimi's dressing room to speak to the House on Fire and Red Flags singer, but were confronted by a series of lasers that stood in their way. As they were trying to work out who was responsible for the obstacle, Mimi emerged from the door, admitting that she was the 'culprit' and declared she wasn't 'taking any chances' after singer and her friend, Tom Grennan, was 'locked' in his dressing room last week.

And she then told Ant and Dec that she didn't want them to have any part in HER End of the Show Show, with the presenters not taking the knock back very well. Viewers were quick to react to her dismissal of Ant and Dec, with one ITV viewer taking to Twitter to post: "Was a bit rude @mimiwebb to slam Ant and Dec, behind the lasers."

Others laughed at the stunt, which was addressed again an hour into proceedings, while some fans of the show were left scratching their heads over this week's guest. Flummoxed on Mimi's identity, one tweeted: "Who is Mimi Webb? Not a clue," with a second reacting: "Must be getting old, never heard of Mimi Webb"

Mimi's appearance on Saturday Night Takeaway came right as she is at the centre of speculation that she could be the UK's act for Eurovision this year. While bookies are tipping Birdy to fly the flag and many fans think it's Rina Sawayama, particularly after Alesha Dixon's 'clue' on Saturday Kitchen, Brit nominee Mimi's name has been mentioned a lot, with lovers of the annual event, thinking a song from her album, just released on Friday, will be the UK's entry.
