Medical drama Malpractice aired its first episode on ITV on Sunday, April 23. The five-part series, which was first commissioned last July, tells the story of one doctor caught up in a dangerous conspiracy.
In the first episode viewers were introduced to smart, battle-hardened doctor Lucinda Edwards, who was in the middle of a nightmare shift. The action kicked off when Lucinda’s shift ended with a gunman breaking into the hospital, thus leading to the death of opioid overdose victim Edith Owusu.
Despite the support of her medical supervisor Dr Leo Harris, Edith's grieving father demanded an inquiry into Lucinda's actions on the fateful night. The inquiry, in turn, had a detrimental effect on the doctor’s confident professional exterior and marriage at home.
