The new series of Love Island is supposed to be bringing the heat into our lives during the dark winter months. However, viewers were quick to share their concerns for the new batch of islanders as they made their way into the brand new villa.
The second-ever winter edition of the ITV2 dating show kicked off on Monday night (January 16) with 10 new islanders making their way to South Africa. And during the first episode of the ninth series, fans saw Maya Jama take over hosting duties after Laura Whitmore announced she was stepping down from the role last year.
The boys were the first to make their entrances before the girls arrived to pick who they'd like to couple up with. And things appeared to be going smoothly until PE and science teacher Kai Fagan was chosen three different times before finally being partnered with hairstylist Tanyel Revan.

Elsewhere, biomedical student Tanya Manhenga, chose airport security officer Shaq Muhammad while Lana Jenkins, a make-up artist from Luton, chose to couple up with the show’s first visually impaired contestant, Ron Hall.
Anna-May Robey, a payroll administrator from Swansea, was ultimately coupled with TV salesman Haris Namani, from Doncaster, while the two remaining islanders – actress Olivia Hawkins, who initially chose to couple up with Kai, and farmer and TikTok star Will Young – formed the final couple.
Once Maya, 28, had left the villa, the new couples started to get to know one another. And it wasn't long before it was time to get glam for their first evening in the plush £1.2m pad.
But eagle-eyed viewers flocked to social media as they claim the girls were 'pretending' they weren't cold. It comes amid reports the new villa in South Africa has been hit by strong winds. @tootsdeville tweeted: "Imagine having to pretend it's not mad windy and you don't want to reach for a wee cardi."
@Lrisdale said: "Love island let those poor girls put a coat on they look freeeezingg #LoveIsland." @TosinSongz echoed: "Loool why did they use a location that is so windy, poor girls are freezing in those bikinis #LoveIsland." @Dkeane96 commented: "Am I old or is it just me seeing all this wind thinking they should wear a jumper outside #LoveIsland."
@thatblondekid wrote: "I can’t actually concentrate on what’s going on because the wind is so chaotic #loveisland." @TheMeganHayward added: "I’m sorry but they all look freezing in this wind, may as well be set in the UK #LoveIsland."
