Lorraine returned to ITV today after a short hiatus following Queen Elizabeth II's death. The breakfast TV programme, fronted by Lorraine Kelly, was taken off air on Friday and Monday after the sad news of the Queen's passing on Thursday evening (September 8).
Following the breaking news, ITV made significant changes to its normal daytime TV schedule to make way for special news coverage honouring Her Majesty. On Friday (September 9), Good Morning Britain delivered a live broadcast hosted by Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard until 9am and from then on until the evening, viewers watched an extended ITV News Special.
ITV also revised its usual run of shows on Monday in replacement for programmes dedicated to King Charles III and the late Queen Elizabeth II. This meant that Lorraine, which usually airs every weekday from 9am to 10am, was not shown until today.

Marking her return, host Lorraine Kelly paid tribute to the late Queen and invited a series of guests onto the show to pay their respects.
One was former Prime Minister Theresa May, who spoke about her personal memories with the Queen which included the humorous cheese incident that she first mentioned in the House of Commons on Friday that saw the Commons erupt with laughter.
But following the former PM's appearance, Lorraine viewers were shocked to see Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi 'randomly' appearing on the breakfast show.
Over recent days, ITV viewers have been used to seeing royal and political figures who knew Queen Elizabeth II interviewed to honour her, but Lorraine welcomed the musician onto the show to promote his new single Forget Me.
Opening the interview, Lewis paid his respects to the Queen as he acknowledged that it was a "bad week to release a single". The singer brought a touch of much-needed humour to viewers as he made several light hearted jokes and showed viewers his new music video, where he could be seen topless on a beach.
Lorraine giggled throughout the interview and thanked Lewis for "raising the nation's spirits" during a tough week. Before he left, the singer gifted Lorraine his new single and said 'here's seven inches of me', as she admitted there was a Bastille record inside instead of his own.
Lorraine fans were in stitches at Lewis' interview and praised the star for his appearance, despite labelling it as 'random'.
@JennieRoe tweeted: "Wasn't @LewisCapaldi exactly what we all needed this morning on #lorraine... A much needed moment of normality and humour after a draining few days of emotion."
@NicolRogers16 said: "From theresa may to lewis capaldi how random and him talking about the queen? I wanna no how he started making pizza."
@JenJenivive wrote: "Oh I love @LewisCapaldi as @benthompson73 admitted: I only saw one problem with that interview, it wasn’t long enough. Lewis Capaldi is a national treasure."
@PanseyPotter added: "Wow how refreshing is @LewisCapaldi honest, funny and a breath of fresh air for an interview ! Bravo Lewis… I’m off to buy your new single."
