ITV Loose Women viewers complain that show 'milked' Kaye Adams Strictly Come Dancing announcement

Fans of ITV's Loose Women have complained that the show 'milked' their announcement about Kaye Adam joining the Strictly Come Dancing 2022 line-up. On Friday's programme (August 5), the panel teased viewers by having a group of ballroom dancers perform while the hosts questioned which of the Loose ladies might be joining the BBC programme.

After going through the panel name by name, Kaye Adams finally stood up and shouted: "It's me!" as the Strictly theme tune played. Denise Welch asked Kaye what her daughters said about the exciting news and she replied, “‘Ok, mum.’”

Nadia Sawalha dialled in to the show from her holiday and said to Kaye, “Is it actually you?” Oh my God, I feel emotional, honestly I can cry. It’s amazing you can do it because let’s face it, you can’t dance, but that’s what we like to see on Strictly - somebody learn to dance.

You’re going to be incredible, you’re so funny, you’ve got the best legs in the business. I can’t wait to get home and cha cha cha with you!” Kaye then revealed, “Actually it’s quite funny because I’m terrified, I’m absolutely terrified because as Nadia very kindly says, as a supportive friend does - ‘Let’s face it, you can’t dance’, which is true. It’s true!

“I’ll be a journey [on the show]. I’ll be honest with you, I can think of a million reasons not to do this and I can still think of a million reasons not to do this and when these gorgeous dancers came on, I nearly exited from both ends of my body, honestly. Sorry about that!

“But I thought, ‘Am I going to be thinking at the end of September I wish I’d done this’. I’m 59, 60 at the end of this year and I was like, ‘Well, why not?’ I’m a really competitive person and Nadia, you know that’s true but in this I’m not. If I enjoy myself, I’ll be so happy.”

Loose Women fans were thrilled for Kaye, with many taking to Twitter to share their praise. @carolmcgee70 said: "Kaye is the same age as me! Doing it for the older lady! Good luck Kaye!" and @Stephen82255037 added: "Go On Kaye Adams!!!! Scotland is right behind you all the way.x"

"Never expected this, can’t wait to see Kaye on the dance floor!" said @tinselchut as @LoveRealityTV4 enthused: "@kayeadams you are gonna smash it!!"

But not all viewers were impressed with how the big reveal was executed. @ForeverOUFC said: "The most dragged out reveal of all time. Milked the hell out of that #loosewomen" while @pipblackbis tweeted: "Talk about over egging a reveal."

"What a long build up on Loose Women today, so annoying!" @PennyLarkin34 as @claireabella000 responded: "Couldn’t agree more. A whole show denying it’s her then a long build up with the awkwardness of those dancers. Super cringy".

The 59-year-old became the fourth person to be announced for the twentieth series of Strictly, joining Will Mellor, Kim Marsh and Richie Anderson. The remaining celebrity contestants are to be announced in due course.
