ITV Loose Women's Nadia Sawalha in tears as she shares 'life-changing' diagnosis

Nadia Sawalha burst into tears as she shared her "life-changing" diagnosis on Loose Women.

The panelist was joined on today's edition of the popular ITV programme by Kaye Adams, Denise Welch and Jane Moore. Nadia's husband Mark Adderley suffers with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) - and the panelist has suspected she may also have the condition.

A video package on Thursday's programme showed Nadia investigate how the condition affects women before she filled out a questionnaire which revealed she displayed several signs of ADHD. Nadia was referred to a practitioner named Rebecca Whelan who confirmed she has ADHD.

The panelist broke down in tears after the news as she revealed how much it has impacted her life. She said: "I couldn't accept there was some reason for all this chaos I've experienced throughout my life."

Nadia was supported by her panelists and she urged anyone displaying symptoms to investigate further. She said: "If any of this resonates with you just investigate it a bit further.

"I have started medication and things are really changing for me."

The NHS explains the signs of ADHD are more difficult to define in adults but list the following symptoms:

  • carelessness and lack of attention to detail
  • continually starting new tasks before finishing old ones
  • poor organisational skills
  • inability to focus or prioritise
  • continually losing or misplacing things
  • forgetfulness
  • restlessness and edginess
  • difficulty keeping quiet, and speaking out of turn
  • blurting out responses and often interrupting others
  • mood swings, irritability and a quick temper
  • inability to deal with stress
  • extreme impatience
  • taking risks in activities, often with little or no regard for personal safety or the safety of others – for example, driving dangerously
