ITV Loose Woman's Carol McGiffin made her opinions known about former Health Secretary Matt Hancock as he arrived on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! But her comments on Thursday (November 10) caused a stir among Loose Woman viewers who, in turn, called for her to resign.
"I would’ve said 'stuff your fee, I’m going'. There’s no way I’m sharing that space with that man," said Carol, who added she was surprised none of the contestants had walked out since Hancock's arrival in the jungle.
“He is responsible for a hell of a lot of pain and anguish that people suffered,” she said. She added: I’m disgusted that he’s in there. Absolutely disgusted. It’s not funny. If that man had a shred of decency he would’ve said no, I’m not going in,” reports Birmingham Live.

However, the comments hit a nerve with some Loose Women fans. Mia wrote: "#LooseWomen @McGiff Come on Carol, let’s see how principled you are. Resign from your job. Such hypocrisy." BF said: "If the LW feel soo strongly [about] Matt Hancock then they should resign in protest because it’s ITV who are giving him a platform #LooseWomen."
A said: "Maybe ask your employer at @itv if THEY have a shred of decency ???? @McGiff #LooseWomen." But others defended Carol, with Liz saying: "oh god I do love @McGiff she cracks me up ! And so right about not having kids ! I've not either but why do others question you on it ?! .. also about ruddy Hancock ! I'm fuming !"
Sandra said: "What a crowd of cackling mean women today I’m sure none of you did anything you shouldn’t during coronavirus > covid time give Hancock a chance I don’t like him but he was funny." Lexie fumed: "This is what so many didn’t understand at the time. Hancock, and many others, did not care about health, they enjoyed playing the main character. There are now elderly people so terrified they will never breathe fresh air again, and he’s moved on to his next vanity project."
"Hancock thinks very highly of himself, so I'm afraid your comments will go over his head.," Chris tweeted Carol. Tracy said: "Totally agree with you Carol. I never watch I'm a Celeb as it is but I definitely wouldn't watch it now, especially with a non-entity like Hancock in there. He obviously has no shame!"
Hancock's arrival in camp has caused quite a stir in the jungle and Boy George threatened to quit the show, saying his mum had been ill in hospital during the pandemic, in disdain over Hancock's behaviour during the period in question. And some I'm a Celebrity fans said they'd 'complained to Ofcom' after a scene on the ITV show which saw Matt Hancock take his first shower in the jungle.
The new series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here airs every night at 9pm on ITV1 and ITV Hub.
