ITV looking for single parents to join new Love Island series for mums and dads

ITV1 are now officially looking for contestants to take part in The Romance Retreat - a Love Island for single parents.

The network sent out an official call, confirming it is on the lookout for "vibrant single parents across the UK who are in search of love".

The intriguing new series will be similar to Love Island as parents will be making their way to a lavish villa in order to find their perfect someone.

ITV said the series will require the participation of a parent and their adult child.

People who can apply include the 'child', who will need to nominate one of their parents.

Parents can also apply on their own but will need to nominate one of their children.

Applications for the upcoming series will be closing at the end of March.

Last month, the channel gave wannabes a glimpse of the villa and producers showcased the stunning ultra-modern pad but failed to disclose its sunny location.

While the concept appears similar to the popular ITV2 series, it remains unclear whether there will be a cash prize on offer for the eventual winners.

Davina McCall previously confessed she would love to be the host of the upcoming series.

Davina is currently a judge on The Masked Singer and admitted ITV had told her they would consider her for a potential new proposal they had set up.

She said on the Diary Of A CEO podcast: "I was like, 'I need to present it please'. They said, 'We're looking at something else that's quite similar, we might consider you for that'.'"

The 55-year-old isn't the only star who is hoping to host the series as Kerry Katona recently put her foot forward.

Kerry said: "There is talk about a middle-aged Love Island, called The Romance Retreat, coming to ITV – and I think it’s such a good idea.

"Kelly Brook has begged ITV to let her host it, but I want to put myself forward."

Continuing to write in her column for OK! Magazine, the former Atomic Kitten singer added: "I think I'd do an amazing job hosting it, I also have life experience and kids – part of the show's format is that it's the grown-up children who put their single parents forwards!

"I'd love to watch people my age fall in love – Love Island is like a kid's show now, it doesn't feel natural."
