Charlene White has become the first person to leave the jungle. The first elimination of the 2022 series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here came on Friday night (November 18), nearly two weeks after the first 10 famous faces entered camp for the first time.
Hosts of the ITV reality show Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly headed into the camp to reveal the news to the 11 campmates that the Loose Women star would immediately be leaving camp after 12 days in the Australian jungle.
Charlene is the first campmate to be evicted from the ITV reality show while technically, Olivia Attwood was the first to leave after the Love Island star was forced off the hit show after being pulled from camp and rushed to hospital due to concerning blood test results.
Charlene's exit came just moments after viewers watched her take part in her first Bushtucker trial, Watery Grave alongside Boy George. Charlene struggled into the water-filled tank she had to plunge herself into while George, 61, was in a separate tank.
Co-host Ant McPartlin commented: "Charlene you might have to push it along more." Charlene admitted: "I’m not sure I can do this. I can’t even step in the water George, currently," to which the 80s icon tried to soother her by saying: "Calm down babe, you got this."
But Charlene started to panic, saying: "I’m trying, oh god I’m really trying." And when Ant told her time was ticking, she snapped: "I know that Anthony!" However, after collecting just two stars, Charlene called out those all-important words... I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here and the trial was over.
Shortly before leaving in a speech to camp as the stars knew it was their last night all together, Charlene said: "I think this is a very, very special group. It's going to be weird as we start going down in number because it just won't be the same.
"Thank you to all of you for giving me an experience that I will never ever ever, ever forget." After the announcement from Ant and Dec, Charlene made her way over the bridge to be greeted by Ant and Dec in the I'm A Celeb studio,
The 42-year-old said: "This is really, really weird," before taking a swig of 'booze' waiting for her in a glass on the table. Asked about her experience, Charlene said: "It's been emotional," Charlene told the hosts. "To use the ridiculous American saying, 'It's been a journey'."
Ant and Dec then quizzed the Loose Women presenter about Matt Hancock's arrival in camp. "My money was him or Liz Truss, so I was surprised but also not surprised," Charlene joked when discussing the MP's stint in the jungle with the show's presenters. I may have been in the jungle but I am still a journalist. I have to remain impartial but that was hard," she continued to explain.
Taking to social media, I'm A Celeb viewers were quick to react to her exit. @saucepieces tweeted: "What! #Charlene is a star. How could she be first out? Demand a recount. #ImACeleb." @schofss1_ wrote: "I’m actually gutted Charlene went out, because after her earlier performance in the trial, I was looking forward to voting her in every night #ImACeleb."
@Silverdudeextra posted: "Well Charlene said 'I'm a celebrity get me out of here!' This shows that you should be careful what you wish for, because your outta there! #ImACeleb." @sharonsstacey added: "Disappointed but not surprised Charlene has gone, the public have no taste! #ImACeleb."
