Following Matt Hancock's third place finish in tonight's I'm A Celeb final, Twitter was flooded with some mixed reviews on the former health secretary's participation in the show. Former Lioness Jill Scott was confirmed as Queen of the Jungle later in the episode ahead of Hollyoaks star Owen Warner.
The I'm A Celeb official Twitter account tweeted after the MP's exit: "His arrival turned heads, but his triumphant return from Trials kept Camp smiling. Matt Hancock is leaving the Jungle in third place #ImACeleb". Plenty of opinions followed in the post's comment section, ranging from praise for his bravery in entering the reality show, to condemnation to the organisers for allowing him to take part.
Gareth Williams (@GarethW21526639) tweeted sympathetically: "Who hasn't made wrong choices that have impacted our families, Wives, husbands, children? We've all messed up in life and we all longed for a big break. Well done Matt. Shame on all the haters and perfect people."
Another user, @JustJulz8, was not so positive on Hancock's involvement, tweeting: "You. @MattHancock. Are. A. Disgrace. You sent UNTESTED patients into #CareHomes during #COVID19 #pandemic. You IGNORED reports provided to you. WHY? You are a disgrace & should be in jail for #Democide".
Owen (@owen02_) said positively: "He defied all odds and beat all of the haters who got voted out before him. We are proud of Matt our true Jungle King".
Ed (@ebullienteddie) sarcastically said: "We're proud of you Matt. Nobody negligently causes 200,000 deaths by sh****ng around when they're supposed to be looking after the elderly and vulnerable in a global pandemic quite like you. Can't wait to see you face the families of the bereaved at a public inquiry".
@davelfc1984 tweeted: "Remember that time Matt Hancock gave his mate, a pub landlord with no previous experience making medical supplies, a £30 million pound government Covid contract to produce vials for testing kits? He just gave it to him after getting a WhatsApp. Remember that? Because I do."
Contrastingly @zhneava wants to see even more of the MP on our TV screens: "i acc jus shed tears.. really wanted him to win but he’s been a legend & 100% my favourite person to go in the jungle, loved watching him & he did the best in there out of all of them, he deserves his own show".
