ITV I'm A Celebrity fans think another campmate should be doing trial over Babatunde Aleshe

Plenty of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here viewers had the same one-word response to the latest news that Matt Hancock wouldn't be doing a trial with that one word being 'finally'. The former health secretary's fortunes appear to be turning on the ITV reality show after being made camp leader and being spared from undergoing the next Bushtucker trial.

Since his arrival into the jungle just under a week ago Matt, 44, has been voted to take on every single trial. But the MP cheered and laughed after it was revealed he had been spared from the next challenge, which will air in Tuesday night's episode', after being voted for by the public six consecutive times.

During Monday night’s episode of the popular programme, it was revealed that Chris Moyles, Boy George and Babatunde Aleshe will all undertake the next trial, named Angel of Agony. The news, delivered by hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly, was greeted with shock in camp, with Loose Women star Charlene White declaring it a "plot twist".

It came shortly after viewers saw Matt, who has been suspended from the Tory party for taking part in the ITV reality show, was seen taking on the Deserted Down Under challenge, which involved the MP for West Suffolk lying on his back in an underground pit as he attempted to unlock the valuable stars that were inside “hell holes” on either side of him.

However, he dropped his trial success as he secured seven out of 11 available stars after being faced with spiders and cockroaches, as well as 30 snakes, his biggest fear, in a coffin-style box in the dark.

It came after Matt was also named camp leader on Sunday following a head-to-head with former England rugby star Mike Tindall for control of the campsite. He appointed Charlene as his deputy, despite them previously clashing over his breaking of Covid-19 guidance during the pandemic, and his new post prompted a muted reaction from his co-stars.

But back to the upcoming trial and I'm A Celeb fans were pleased to hear that some other campmates would be trying to win meals for camp after they started to get 'bored' of Matt taking on all the challenges, and doing quite well.

In a preview of Tuesday’s episode, Boy George, Chris and Babatunde are standing in a structure that resembles the Angel Of The North sculpture in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. Culture Club star Boy George begins chanting while navigating a box full of critters to find a star before handing it to comedian Aleshe, who apologised profusely for dropping it.

Dec quips: “Not a great start," before Boy George continues to chant loudly as he attempts to unravel two further stars in a chamber full of snakes while Chris moans: "Why did I wear shorts," as critters fall on him.

But I'm A Celeb fans think another campmate should have been voted for the trial over Babatunde, who took on one of the series' earlier challenges after he became the first to say 'I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here' during 'The Ledge' trial in episode one.

@CaptainSC5 tweeted: "Swap Babtunde for Sue and that’s a result! Glad they’re doing a trial at last! #ImACelebrity." @poppatronista said: "Why are people voting for Babatunde? Glad to see George and Chris up. Shame Charlene or Sue weren’t up there with them. #ImACelebrity."

@carolinepotter5 wrote: "Thank god. Gutted Sue wasn't voted instead of Babatunde." @vickyrobinson1968.vr posted: "Yess sorry about Baba tho it should have been Sue then that would have been the 3 moaners!" @emilyash85 added: "Finally can't wait but would of loved Sue in and Babba free."
