ITV Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid shouts out Piers Morgan as she marks 20-year milestone

Susanna Reid has given a special mention to Piers Morgan after marking 20 years as a host on Good Morning Britain. The 52-year-old presenter joined the ITV breakfast programme two decades ago where she has worked with several different co-hosts.

Notably one of Susanna's most memorable co-presenters is Piers Morgan, who famously stormed off set and drastically quit the show during an on-air argument about Meghan Markle. As she marked 20 years on TV, Susanna gave a shout out to Piers, who now presents his own Talk TV chat show Piers Morgan Uncensored.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain today (March 22) alongside her current co-host Ed Balls, the presenter thanked Piers for making her 'more argumentative and more difficult' as well as giving a nod to her former BBC Breakfast colleague Bill Turnbull.

Speaking on Wednesday morning, she said: "I started with Bill Turnbull, and it is really a shame not to be able to celebrate with Bill. I'd love to be able to text him this morning and talk to him about that. He was absolutely brilliant, but luckily I am surrounded by other brilliant people and so thank you very much for being with me on the journey.

"Obviously, a massive thanks to Ben, who is not here this morning but we started Good Morning Britain together along with you Charlotte of course and Sean as well," she began before Piers got a mention.

"And just a huge thank you to Piers Morgan of this parish, five years alongside him. He made me bolder, more argumentative, more difficult I think, more probing, asking the tricky questions and going into battle every morning. Slightly different since then but definitely a big thank you to everyone I've presented with over 20 years. Getting up at 3.45 and I'm still here."

In response to Susanne's milestone, @piersmorgan tweeted: "Congrats to my ex-TV wife @susannareid100 on her 20th anniversary of presenting breakfast TV. Amazing achievement! ps I miss those eye-rolls...."

After the show aired Susanna took to her Instagram to share a post with her 618,000 followers, where she reminisced about her two decades on the breakfast programme.

"20 YEARS - and still smiling! This week marks two decades of getting up at 3.45am and grilling politicians, debating the big issues, being charmed by celebrities and inspired by the incredible guests we meet every day," she wrote.

"Thank you to my friends at BBC Breakfast for getting me started including two beloved people who are no longer here - Alison Ford and Bill Turnbull - who we hold in our hearts. And to everyone at @gmb from launch in 2014 to BAFTA and RTS award nominations today.

"And thank you to the millions who have watched in your kitchens, living rooms & bedrooms. As Roger Moore once said to me with a raised eyebrow “I wake up with you every morning” and it is the greatest privilege in television to be able to say the same to you all."
