Susanna Reid was forced to make a rare on-air correction during the latest edition of Good Morning Britain following a comment from a guest.
The TV presenter, 54, was back on the ITV news show on Wednesday morning alongside co-host Richard Madeley, 62, when they were joined by regular guests and journalists Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire in the studio.
They were on hand to help the hosts discuss the latest news headlines including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine nearly three weeks into Russia's invasion.
But things became tense between the two guests when they discussed the UK’s relationship with Saudi Arabia as Boris Johnson is set to meet with leaders in Middle East in an effort to reduce the UK's dependence on Russian gas and oil.
However, it had been pointed out that the Prime Minister will meet with the Crown Prince days after a huge public execution in Saudi Arabia as he seeks to boost Gulf oil production.
Andrew first argued: "It's better to buy it from Saudi Arabia than Russia because it's supporting the war in Ukraine." But Kevin then responded: "So again, just come back. You condemn Putin for killing children, for bombing hospital, for hitting houses, but you don't condemn Saudi Arabia for killing children, bombing hospitals and hitting houses?"
But Andrew argued: "The whole of the western world has seen what has been happening in Russia apart from Kevin Maguire it seems, who thinks it's okay to carry on with that than Saudi Arabia."
Susana also pointed out: "And to be fair there's a lot of people who think it's a double standard."
However, during the conversation, Andrew claimed that parts of the Caribbean have the death penalty for homosexuality as he continued to defend the decision behind working with Saudi Arabia on the current issues at hand.
GMB viewers were quick to call out his comment and called for the show to make an urgent correction which Susann did in the closing seconds of Wednesday's programme.
After finishing up an interview with Irish dance legend Michael Flatley, and before handing over to Lorraine Kelly for her self-titled ITV show, Susanna said: "Before we go, I'd just like to correct something said by earlier in the show.
"One of our contributors suggested being gay was punishable by the death penalty in some parts of the Caribbean. That's not correct, although it is considered as a crime with potentially long jail sentences in some areas."
Richard then added: "Just to make the absolutely clear," before they were replaced by Lorraine in her neighbouring ITV studio.
