ITV Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley hits out at Prince Harry no-show at memorial

Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley has hit out at Prince Harry for his no-show at Prince Phillip's memorial on Tuesday morning.

As reported by the Mirror, the Duke of Sussex will be absent from his grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh's, memorial service on Tuesday morning at Westminster Abbey.

And co-host of the ITV morning programme, Richard, has criticised the royal for his decision on the matter.

Discussing the memorial on the ITV breakfast show, Richard slammed Harry for missing the event.

Susanna Reid began the discussion by stating: "Harry and Meghan will not be there because they have concerns about security."

Richard then jumped in, replying: "Which is ridiculous, because he will be in the bosom of the royal family today and there will be security people everywhere. He would be completely looked after."

Susanna then stated that Harry and Meghan may think "they are more of a target" as she stated: "Because presumably that's what they argue - is that they feel more at risk if there are other members of the Royal Family there, including Head of State."

Kevin Maguire then chimed in: "If they feel it, they feel it but come on, it's going to be the most secure part of London. I was there last night, they've put up the crash barriers. If you're looking for a police officer today, just go around Westminster Abbey, you'll find ranks of them."

Richard agreed, adding: "I couldn't agree more with you. What is he playing at?"

Prince Harry hasn't been in the UK since July 2021, when he attended an event to unveil the statue of his late mother Princess Diana alongside his brother Prince William.

Good Morning Britain resumes each weekday on ITV from 6am onwards.
