Gordon Smart got his Good Morning Britain stint off to a rather cheeky start as he wasted no time in making digs during the latest entertainment news. It was announced earlier this week that the Radio X broadcaster would be making his hosting debut on the ITV news programme.
On Thursday (December 29) he spent his first morning at the helm alongside Charlotte Hawkins and will return again for the last show of the year on Friday (December 30). Gordon has become the latest male host to join the every-changing line-up - which includes Martin Lewis, Richard Madeley, Adil Ray, Ed Balls and Robert Rinder - since Piers Morgan's exit last year.
And Charlotte was sure to give him a warm welcome as he opened the show at 6am this morning. "We have a new face on the show today.." she announced before asking him how it felt to be on the programme.
"First day at school vibes," he replied with a laugh. "I feel like you're the clever girl at school and I'm copying your homework. I think I even wrote your name down by mistake!" He then added: "Thanks for having me," as Charlotte repeated her welcome.
After cracking on with the show, which brought viewers the latest news headlines, interviews and usual debates, it was soon time for some entertainment news which was again delivered by Scarlette Douglas. The I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here star made her presenting debut on the programme on Wednesday as she fills in for the show's usual showbiz editor Richard Arnold.
During her latest segment, Scarlette shared the happy news that Stacey Solomon is expecting her fifth child. The Loose Women panelist revealed she and her husband Joe Swah were expecting again in an Instagram post shared with her millions of followers.
The coulple already share three-year-old son Rex and daughter Rose, who turned one in October. Stacey is also mum to sons Leighton and Zacharay while Joe, 40, is dad to son Harry, 15, from previous relationships
As they chatted about the family's latest news, Charlotte said: "Brilliant news, how exciting for them, they're going to have a busy house aren't they!" before former showbiz editor Gordon, 42, joked that he has the "number for a good surgeon for Joe," directing his comment at former EastEnders star Joe ahead of him becoming a father for the fourth time.
He then said it was "Time for him to hang up his boots", leaving co-host Charlotte, 47, gobsmacked. After making his apologies between giggles, Scarlette concluded: "From all of us here at GMB, we send them both our very best wishes, congratulations!" she said.
Stacey, 33, posted a heart-warming video on her Instagram page to reveal the happy news. In the video, Stacey could be seen telling Joe, who she married in July, to enter the bathroom as she held out the pregnancy test to show him the results. "What you holding?" the former EastEnders star asks with a big grin. "You're joking!" he exclaims as he clocks the result before embracing Stacey and telling her: "This is the best news bubba."
Alongside the video, Stacey typed: "Me + Him =" followed by six emojis to represent their children. She went on: "So grateful & can not believe I’m saying this… Another little pickle is on the way… A HUGE surprise, but one that we are so thankful for to the moon & back bub."
