Good Morning Britain viewers have been left reacting to the news that Boris Johnson will finally appear on the programme for the first time in five years. It was confirmed on Monday that Susanna Reid will speak to the Prime Minister at No.10 with the interview airing on Tuesday (May 3).
Mr Johnson's absence from appearing on the programme hasn't ever gone unnoticed, with Susanna and former host Piers Morgan regularly accusing him of snubbing the show, particularly during the coronavirus pandemic where the Government abstained from appearing on it for 201 days.
While it is five years since he properly spoke on the ITV news show, his chat with Susanna, 51, comes three years after Mr Johnson famously ran away from her and Piers by hiding in a fridge in the lead up to the 2019 general election.

Appearing on Monday's show (May 2) Kate Garraway, who was presenting the Bank Holiday edition of the programme alongside Richard Madeley, confirmed the news, teasing: "We’re actually going to be hearing from him, for once, tomorrow." It came as the hosts and their guest discussed the latest news headlines including Tony Blair's support of Sir Keir Starmer ahead of the local elections later this week.
As Kate confirmed the interview will be taking place live from Downing Street, Kevin Maguire commented: "Blimey," to which the host replied: "Blimey, says Kevin. That's what a lot of people are thinking." He then joked: "Does she have to take her own fridge?"
She also said it had been 1790 days - nearly five years - since the PM has spoken to GMB. A Good Morning Britain spokesperson also confirmed: "In an interview with Susanna Reid at 10 Downing Street, the Prime Minister will come face to face with the presenter for his long-anticipated appearance on GMB."
And GMB fans are as surprised as the show's guests. @Ash_470 tweeted: "Wow wow wow! @BorisJohnson on @gmb tomorrow and about time. This will be one not to be missed, and guess what the only time I have to be in the office. Glad they got the best person to interview him. @susannareid100 #GMB #BorisJohnson."
"OMG Boris Johnson is on #GMB tomorrow. He finally gave in did he after about 4 years," @RyanGTweetsTV commented as @craigdavies128 said: "About bloody time! Avoided being questioned for far too long!"
Piers, who dramatically left the show in March 2021, also put his hat in the ring for Mr Johnson's next interview. Sharing GMB's tweet, he wrote: "@piersmorgan He’s out of the fridge! If you’re doing the rounds @BorisJohnson - you know where to find me."
Susanna also tweeted: "TOMORROW: Live from Downing Street, my interview with the Prime Minister. Don’t miss it. @gmb from 6am on ITV."
