ITV GMB hosts scold Vicky McClure after she makes gaffe live on air

Vicky McClure was scolded on Good Morning Britain after she made a gaffe live on air.

The actress joined hosts Charlotte Hawkins and Adil Ray on the ITV programme on Tuesday morning (December 20) and was joined by members of Our Dementia Choir. But she was quickly told off when she name-dropped a rival news outlet.

Vicky was chatting about what a busy few weeks the choir was having, taking apart in huge events and shows. Vicky enthused: "It really is Karen and all the people that manage this charity now because we're much bigger. They were performing with the Bootleg Beatles last Friday, we were on NBC news."

Adil interrupted, adding: "Yeah but you're on Good Morning Britain now!" as Vicky laughed and quipped back: "I know, I know." During their appearance, Vicky explained just why the choir is so important to her - and what inspired her to set it up, reports the Mirror.

She said: "I saw my Mum doing it [singing] with her Mum and my Nona had lost her speech towards the end. So music was just one of those ways to communicate. This is real, everybody in the choir gets so much from it."

Vicky McClure spoke about exciting developments with Our Dementia Choir (ITV)

Choir member Julie, who joined Vicky on the show, added: "I’ve gained a family. When I first started I felt quite alone really. I came into the choir and straight away got a rapport with people because I could see they were having the same problems I was having.

"We're just one big family. Day to day is a struggle, trying to remember things. Within half an hour, an hour it's gone. Whereas singing, once you hear the music, the words just come - you don’t have to try."

She added: "You just feel like somebody has switched the light on."

Vicky previously insisted she would "happily" go to Downing Street to argue for changes to dementia care. She said: "I would happily go to Downing Street but I don’t want to go there knowing that they’re just going to say ‘there there there’. We need to know that they are serious about creating change, and we’re all very aware about what’s happening.

"We’re aware of other political movements that are happening, we’re aware that there are some good news stories in the press about potential treatments. We’re keeping on top of what’s going on."

She added: "But like I said in the show, and since we shot that and since it’s going to air – nothing’s changed. Until I know that’s going to be the case I’m not wasting these people’s time. They’re more than happy to invite us if they’ve got something they can tell us."
