ITV Emmerdale teases blackmail threats, cruel deception, and forbidden secret liaisons in preview

Things may be quiet in the village right now but blackmail threats, cruel deception, and forbidden secret liaisons are set to rock Emmerdale in the coming weeks and months. And some of the residents are about to find out that their actions can have serious consequences.

Last month when discussing what viewers can expect in 2023, Jane Huson, the ITV soap's executive producer, kicked told the Manchester Evening News: "I would say the start of 2023 is explosive for the Dingles. We've got Cain at the heart of what's happening in our village. We've got Paddy and Chas, we've got Charity and Mackenzie so the Dingles are really kicking off 2023 with a bang. It's all going on for them."

Now, in a fresh preview, more about what's to come for the iconic family has been revealed, more specifically for Chas and Paddy Kirk as the fallout from Chas' affair with Al Chapman, who has since been killed by her nephew Kyle, continues. Incredibly lonely after leaving Chas, Paddy, played by Dominic Brunt could be forgiven when he finds himself falling into the arms of his ex-wife Mandy Dingle, played by Lisa Riley.

In recent weeks viewers have seen Paddy maintain a good relationship with her son, Vinny, whose wife Liv Dingle died in the horror windstorm back in the Autumn. But in upcoming scenes, Paddy opens up to Mandy. And as they take a trip down memory lane, old passions are reawakened and they soon find themselves falling into bed together. Will this instant need for gratification and company help Paddy, or will he find himself spiraling into an even deeper depression?

Meanwhile, since the birth of Amelia Spencer's baby, Noah Dingle has shown love and support for the new mum, played by Daisy Campbell, that biological father Samson Dingle, who is played by Sam Hall, has lacked. As Noah, portrayed by Jack Downham generously suggests setting up a trust fund for baby Esther, we’ll soon see scheming Samson’s cogs whirring and Noah will find himself being blackmailed for money.

However, Samson’s scheming won’t just impact Noah, it could also compromise his entire family. Jane previously teased: "Noah and Amelia have got their story going on. Amelia has had her baby and Noah is kind of being the surrogate father and Samson is going to be more devious than usual in terms of looking after himself and it will cause big arguments with his father.

And not too far away is Mackenzie Boyd and Noah's mum, Charity Dingle. Their tumultuous relationship has been tested over the last year after the loss of their unborn child.

Thinking they were on a break, Mack found himself in bed with Chloe Harris, played by Jessie Elland, and then instantly regretted his one-night stand. Mack hoped to put the affair behind him, but with the news that Chloe was carrying his baby, Mack has since carried a heavy secret and even popped the question to his unsuspecting girlfriend.

With his relationship with Charity in a better place than it’s ever been, Charity and Mack have a big Dingle wedding to look forward to. But the past has a habit of catching up with you and it’s only a matter of time before this baby bombshell explodes in Mack’s face. With the revelation that the love of her life cheated on her, could we see Charity revert to the old her and press the self-destruct button?
