One of Emmerdale's much-loved stars has told people to 'look out' as the cast are set to enjoy an unexpected day off as filming on the show has been cancelled. Nick Miles, who is known to viewers for playing Jimmy King in the ITV soap, confirmed the news on Twitter on Friday morning (March 10).
He revealed that severe weather conditions have stopped schedules. It comes as heavy snow has brought treacherous conditions with drivers left stranded for hours and people urged to only travel if absolutely necessary. Storm Larisa battered parts of the UK with gales and blizzards overnight.
The Met Office still has a number of warnings in place for snow and ice, including an amber warning covering northern England and the Midlands. Four yellow warnings for snow also cover much of the rest of the nation, with the exception of south-east England and western Scotland.
Posting his message on social media on Friday morning, Nick typed: "Filming on Emmerdale cancelled today due to the snow. Look out Leeds. We’re all going sledging!’, he wrote on the social media platform.
One fans, @lindsaybrockwel, was quick to reply: "Wow day off work have fun." While @nickythewifey warned: "Stay safe on those sledges Nick, or we'll be next seeing you with a cast on."
Snow had already coated parts of the remote Emmerdale village location set on Thursday (March 9) with Rosie Bentham, who plays Gabby Thomas in the long-running soap, sharing a snap of the snow-dusted houses and cars while Lewis Cope, who recently joined the soap as nanny Nicky, also shared a similar image of the village looking more like a winter wonderland.
An Emmerdale spokeswoman has told The Sun: "Due to the weather and road accessibility all Emmerdale filming units have been cancelled today."
