Emmerdale star Laura Norton is best known for her role as Kerry Wyatt on the long running ITV soap, but some might not know she very nearly played somebody else.
Actress, Laura, joined the cast in 2012 and has played Kerry ever since, she has become a firm favourite amongst fans and has been embroiled in several major storylines during her time on the show, including that deadly fire that killed Frank.
Kerry Wyatt is the mother of Amy Wyatt, in June 2020 Kerry stopped appearing on-screen and her absence was explained as the character visiting a friend. In real life, actress Laura Norton was on maternity leave.

Although it's hard to imagine the actress as anyone other than Kerry, the actress actually auditioned for the role of two other parts - Ali, Amelia Spencer’s (Daisy Campbell) mum and Ruby Haswell.
The two roles were given to Kelli Hollis and Alicya Eyo as the casting director said Laura "wasn't quite right" for either, however, a year later she received a call for her iconic role as Kerry, the actress explained to Inside Soap.
She said: "I was the first person they saw out of about 40. It was meant to be. She’s a tart with a heart, a bit of a train-wreck, a good-time girl who had a tough upbringing, there’s a lot of baggage and vulnerability - I love her."
So while she may have had to wait a while to get her Emmerdale debut, it seems playing tole role of chaotic Kerry is perfectly suited to Laura and she wouldn't want it any other way!
