Emmerdale fans were left questioning Manpreet Sharma's job as a doctor after she came to her boyfriend Charles Anderson's rescue. During scenes aired on the ITV soap on Monday night (August 15), the vicar was found unconscious in the church after a heated exchange with his daughter.
Charles only found out Naomi existed earlier this year. His wife, Esme, gave birth to their daughter after he walked out on their marriage after having an affair. Since then, Charles has attempted to get to know his daughter but with little success. In scenes aired last week, Naomi hit out after he showed up to her dinner with brother Ethan.
Feeling 'set up' she stormed off and was later approached at the bus stop by Manpreet. But Naomi didn't take too kindly to her interfering and mentioned her serial killer sister Meena. Naomi then warned her that she doesn't "take kindly to people who intervene" and when asked if she was threatening her, Charles' daughter chillingly said to her: "You tell me."
But in the latest Emmerdale scenes, Charles and Naomi were in a heated argument. Unbeknown to them, Charles' partner Manpreet Sharma had approached the church and heard some of their exchange before the newcomer came bursting out of the doors of the church and walk away towards to bus stop.
Once inside the church, Manpreet was left horrified and shaken to find Charles lying on the floor unconscious and with a head injury. Harriet Finch saw what had happened and arrived inside the church and called for an ambulance.
Viewers, however, were quickly flocking to social media to discuss Manpreet's actions after discovering her boyfriend on the floor. Trisha Edwards wrote on Facebook: "You'd never know Manpreet is supposedly a GP the way she dealt with Charles." Lindsey Skelton-Smith commented: "As a GP, you'd think Manpreet would know that shaking an unconscious patient & shouting 'wake up' isn't the best thing to do."
Laura Hamilton said: "Manpreet who is supposedly a GP, finds someone unconscious and makes no attempt to put them in the recovery position. We’re talking basic first aid here."
When she spotted the paramedics arriving, Naomi rushed back over to the church as Manpreet, a GP, told the emergency staff about Charles' condition. Clearly alarmed, Naomi asked if Charles was okay, only for Manpreet to order her to leave and blamed Charles' accident on her.
Naomi tried to get away from Harriet before she was arrested on suspicion of assault. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Charles was in a critical condition and Manpreet wasted no time in telling his son Ethan that Naomi was to blame and that she reminded her of her killer sister, Meena Jutla.
But fans don't seem to agree. @homebrew19721 tweeted: "Manpreet niomi isn't even a poundland meena #emmerdale." @penniless_poet commented: "'She sounded like Meena' - but a bit shit at getting away and covering up her crime so maybe not #Emmerdale."
