Emmerdale fans were left outraged by Samson Dingle's behaviour during the latest scenes. And they were also quick to point out a 'blunder' as the ITV soap returned for its latest installment on Wednesday night (November 16).
As viewers already know the character, who is the son of Sam and his later wife Alice, wasn't happy about becoming a dad after Amelia Spencer became pregnant with his baby. Following the devastating storm which hit the villages last month, the teen gave birth to a baby girl, who she named Esther.
And while Amelia thought she had been getting the support of Samson, as well as her boyfriend Noah Dingle and her dad Dan, all that changed when Samson told the mother of his child that their daughter should be put up for adoption. Amelia opened up to Samson about struggling to manage with the newborn, who had been born early.
Then after suggesting the new mum could still live out her dreams, and Amelia asking how, the teen dad replied: "I think we should put Esther up for adoption." He added: "It's not fair to kill your dreams for a baby. You need to face reality. I had plans that the baby has ruined, and that's just in the last hour."
She argued back that she isn’t giving up any dreams but Samson told her that he wouldn’t be minding the baby again as Amelia packed up and started to leave. Dingle home. As he continued to tell her that he didn't want to be a dad, before Amelia left she screamed: “I thought the worst thing you could do is tell me to get an abortion… but this. This is even nastier."
She then headed back to her boyfriend Noah and told him what Samson had said to her. Outraged, he decided to pay Samson a visit at Jacob’s Farm. The pair had a heated confrontation over the situation, leaving Samson determined to take action. And he suddenly picked out his phone from his pocket and made a call.
However, Emmerdale fans headed to social media to mock the moment as Samson appeared to have the social services line on speed dial. @ChrisHydeCoope1 tweeted: "Yeah....we all have Social Services on our phones at the touch of a button....#Emmerdale." @ColBloodnok commented: "I mean what 18 year old lad hasn't got social services on speed dial?"
@DaftBint wrote: "Amazing that Samson had the number for Social Services stored in his phone, what a stroke of luck #Emmerdale.@fifi_com08 joked: "So Samson just had the number of social services saved on his phone. Either that, or it was the quickest Google search I’ve seen #emmerdale." While @Chris1968E added: "#Emmerdale So Samson's been planning this for a while otherwise how the hell does he have social services programmed in."
